Jesus said, “You need clothing because you know not that you are naked.” When man sinned against God, he became aware of his nakedness and covered himself. The awareness of dressing is an outcome of sin against God. Today all the fashion in the world could be seen in the church. You don’t have to go out, but just come to church and see the latest fashion technology in full fledge. People are more aware of their dressing today. It is an outcome of sin that makes you conscious of your dressing. There is so much of filth and the church is okay with it. Sodom and Gomorrah had no Bible in those days, but look at the wrath of God that was poured on that city because of its sin. Nakedness was exposed and man had reached the threshold of sinning against God. So God utterly destroyed that city with fire. Can you imagine how much more the wrath of God is being stored up for today’s generation that has the Bible, the church, 24*7 Christian channels, mass meetings and more??? Oh God, save us!!
Revelation puts out the state of the church. “Because you say, “I am rich, and have become wealthy, and have need of nothing,” and you do not know that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked,” (Rev 3:17) and that’s exactly what the church is today! Do we know that our spiritual appearance is rottening? There is shame, there is guilt, there is greed, there is jealousy and we are not bothered about our spiritual appearance before God but rather are more concerned about how we look to people. We have forgotten that our God is a God who doesn’t look at our outer appearance but looks at the heart. Sadhu Sunder Singh was called ‘the apostle with bleeding feet’. All that he wore was a saffron robe. Once he was visiting a house, the little girl opened the door, saw him, went running inside and told her mom, “Mummy, an angel has come!” Is that our testimony with people today? If we are more concerned about our physical attire and let rust our spiritual attire, we are choking God’s Word to bear fruit in us. Awake!
May these expositions enlighten us and help us walk with Him, in Him and through Him to do that great purpose for which He has called us to do. God bless you!
